Principal's Message

| Welcome Cerritos Families to the 2026–2027 School Year! Dear Wildcat Families, Welcome to another exciting school year at Cerritos Elementary Computer Science Immersion Magnet School! It is an honor to continue serving as your principal, and I am thrilled to welcome both our returning Wildcats and the newest members of our school community. I hope your summer was filled with opportunities to relax, recharge, and make lasting memories. Our staff is looking forward to an amazing year of learning, growth, and celebration together. At Cerritos, we believe that strong partnerships between school and home are the foundation of student success. As we enter our fourth year as a Community School, we remain committed to supporting the whole child by providing high-quality academic instruction while also fostering students' social-emotional well-being and connecting families with valuable resources and services. Through meaningful partnerships with families and community organizations, we strive to remove barriers to learning and ensure every student has the support they need to thrive. Our school theme, "Every Day Counts on the Path to Success," reminds us that each school day is an opportunity for our students to learn, grow, and reach their full potential. This year, we are also proud to continue our work as a Genius School, with a dedicated focus on creating equitable opportunities and ensuring the success of our African American students and other historically marginalized student groups. Through culturally responsive teaching, meaningful family partnerships, and intentional student support, we are committed to helping every Wildcat feel seen, valued, and empowered to achieve excellence. Our teachers will continue collaborating through grade-level Professional Learning Communities and the Inquiry Process to strengthen instruction, analyze student progress, and provide engaging learning experiences for every child. We are also expanding opportunities for family involvement while strengthening partnerships with organizations such as CalFresh, Glendale Memorial Hospital/Dignity Health, Forest Lawn, Glendale Kiwanis, and many other community partners. Under the leadership of our Community Schools Teacher Specialist, Ms. Simmons, we look forward to building even stronger connections that benefit our students and families. Our Mission Cerritos Elementary Computer Science Immersion Magnet School is a student-centered learning community where families, staff, and community partners work together to ensure every student succeeds. Through rigorous academics, computer science, collaboration, and digital literacy, students develop the critical thinking, creativity, communication, and problem-solving skills needed for the future. Our educators design engaging, differentiated lessons that inspire curiosity and joyful learning while ensuring every Wildcat feels respected, included, and valued as an important member of our school community. Now entering our ninth year as a Computer Science Immersion Magnet School, we remain committed to preparing students for the future through our partnership with Code to the Future. Every student in Transitional Kindergarten through sixth grade participates in computer science instruction integrated into daily learning. Coding experiences are embedded across subjects including English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, allowing students to develop computational thinking while strengthening core academic skills. The Wildcat Way Our students continue to demonstrate outstanding character by living the Wildcat Way every day: Show Respect Show Responsibility Make the Right Choices As a PBIS Platiunum School we are incredibly proud to continue building a positive, safe, and inclusive school culture through Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Our commitment to recognizing positive behavior helps create an environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Staying Connected Strong communication between home and school is essential. Cerritos will continue using ParentSquare as our primary district and school communication platform. Families are encouraged to activate their ParentSquare accounts before the first day of school so they never miss important announcements. Through ParentSquare, families can:
